Magic Parcel: A New Dawn

This is the conclusion of the Magic Parcel stories. The adventures of Jimmy Scoggins come to a mind-blowing climax after some of the most intensely exciting action imaginable.

Yet, how much excitement and how many adventures should a ten year old have had in such a short life time? There seems to be no end to the narrow escapes he has had in The Gathering Storm. And what about the friends and acquaintances he has picked up along the way? We know about Lucix and his Lucien folk, and how Enteran became involved. But who is Daemo? Where did he come from, how does he fit in, and what part will he have to play, if any?

Have we seen the last of Tar-igor, the former Evil Lord of Seth? It would seem that Ursula had the measure of him finally. Following her brief encounters with Umbrano, will she be too much for him too? Surely powerful sorcerers such as these can’t be destroyed that easily by such an insignificant young schoolgirl?

Oompah is the only one who appears to be having a much better time since the overthrow of his arch enemy. Yet, there are singular developments in his old kingdom of Oom, where his son, Tarna, has brought damnation upon himself. Or has he? It just goes to show you can’t mess with sorcerers, no matter how well connected you are.

Jimmy, unfortunately, has irritated and annoyed a good many people in the many lands he has visited, Verdan amongst them. His honest and forthright approach to all the questions which have occurred to him have not been to everyone’s taste. Verdan himself, it would appear, however, has the last word. Has Jimmy’s luck finally run out? Will he live to fight again, or has this been his last battle?

"Magic Parcel: A New Dawn" is now finished!

The cataclysmic finale has received its finishing touches within the last couple of days! Two weeks or so of revising, re-drafting and re-writing should see the manuscript ready for typing. Publishing will happen at the beginning of the new year.

It has turned out to be every bit as exciting to write as I had hoped, with the characters leading me a merry dance at times. I feel sure those fans who have expressed their love of the first two books in the trilogy, will not be disappointed.

Watch this space for more details.

Chapter Fifteen done! Ten more to go; only a hundred or so pages.
The chapters become shorter as the climax approaches, heightening tension and excitement!
I can't believe how exciting the story has become! Taking on a life of its own, I had to be firm, or it would have gone on for ever!

At Last! The typing is finished! 15 February 2012, at 12.30 in the morning.
Within the next two or three days the finished manuscript will be on its way to Chaz Wood to add illustrations and design the cover in his own inimitable way. Once that has been done - and Chaz is very quick - it will be on its way to the publisher, 2QT Ltd in Burton in Kendal, Cumbria.
Looking forward to the finished product.

Sunday 19th February 2012.
The manuscript is now with Chaz Wood. Soon, he will work his magic and produce his wonderful illustrations and book cover, bringing the finished book that much closer.

The first two illustrations of six have been done, and they are truly stunning. Chaz is working his magic once again. I can't wait for the rest. Once these have been done and set into context, the jacket will be designed. Then, it's off to the publisher/printer for production.

The third illustration is absolutely superb! Based on a Canarian friend, in Loren-zo Chaz has captured the essence of both the character and my friend. Over the moon!

The cover is almost complete! I like it a lot! Won't be long until the book is in print.
Probably mid-July. You will be the first to know.

Monday 28th May 2012
All copy edits finally completed. Final read-through also done. Chaz has completed the cover. Only two illustrations to go, then it will be submitted to the printer. Oh happy days! I am looking forward to seeing the finished book. "A New Dawn" really is a darned good tale. Late July to mid-August should see it on the bookshelves.

Monday 10th July 2012
Not long to go now to the release!
All illustrations finished and submitted to the publisher. They are truly a work of genius from Chaz Wood!
The story is with the type-setter, and once he has finished his work, Chaz can be given the final thickness so he is able to complete the cover as it will appear.
Don't ask!
It's complicated stuff.

Don't worry. You will be the first to know when the book is ready for you to read.
Speak to you soon.

Monday 23rd July 2012
Had a late email from my publisher, 2QT, to ask me to do the final reading so the book can be signed off. This is the precursor to printing. Excited! The book looks tremendous. Can't wait to see it in its full livery. I'll let you know when.

Unbelievable! Received advanced copies of "A New Dawn" today. Thrilled skinny! It's turned out better than expected. Chaz Wood (my illustrator) has done an immense job on all illustrations and, of course, the cover, which is superb.
I must thank Catherine Cousins (my publisher) and Robert C Auty (my editor) at 2QT, and all their staff for making the process so easy. The book is simply ace!
